There are of course the essentials, - water bowls, leash, waste bags and food (Our Naturo Trays are perfect for transporting on trips and eating on the go), but don’t forget about those delicious treats to keep them content during the journey. Travelling with your Dog in the car

While you’re driving, the safety of your family and your four-legged passenger is a priority. It’s easy for cats and dogs to get a little restless after hours of travel and we can’t blame them, we do as well! A crate or car harness is a great way to keep your pet safe for the entire journey. Dog Behaviourist Leon Towers recommends a travel crate, covered with a soft cloth will make your pet feel safe and secure for your journey. Pet- Friendly Pit Stops

When planning your road trip, don’t forget to research your rest stops to make sure they are pet friendly and suitable for your furry companions. Parks, rivers, and forests are perfect for the whole family to stretch their legs and enjoy the scenery. This will also allow your pet to burn off some extra energy and help them relax more before setting off again! It’s also recommended to research your restaurants and cafés to ensure they allow dogs and if they need to be kept on a leash.

Talk to your vet.

A quick visit to your trusted vet is recommended to ensure your pet is healthy and ready for their holiday. It also gives you a chance to ask questions about possible car sickness and anything else which might be on your mind. It is always recommended to ensure your pets have a microchip and that all contact details are up to date. While we never want or expect to be in those scenarios, a missing pet while travelling can be a scary experience.

Basic Commands for your Dog

You want your road trip to be as relaxing as possible to enjoy the break and the quality time with your four-legged family member. But while you are in a new environment, it can be frustrating if your pet will not follow commands. We recommend taking some time to practice your most basic commands with your dog, such as, ‘Come’ and ‘Heel’. This could help you and your pet feel more confident while on the road and allow you to relax and have fun.
